This is a reaction post to Tegoshi's hair back to black again (FTW!) and KARA's new album and single--again. (WTF?)
On Tegoshi's new black hair
My first reaction was, "Seriously, this isn't a throwback pic?" But it was in ItteQ, and he never had a hair like that in ItteQ.
So it seriously wasn't a throwback photo or an April-fools-day pic. It was real. *gasp*
He looked like the Tegoshi from NEWS' debut. Of course not exactly like the batang yagit (KILL ME NOW orz) Tegoshi with those crooked teeth and very unstylish hair, but in his latest look he's just absolutely young. Like, can we have a part 2 of Shissou right now, with only a year or two age changes?? Seriously. Why do you look like a 16-year old again. (this is much to my pleasure because duh, I look forever twelve.)
I have these minor rants though. Like many of us, we're already used to the blondie in NEWS for almost 2 years. Let's think of Chankapaana PV (and even the TV performances and in UtsuCon). His hair was a huge standout there, complimenting the pure white outfit. I cannot imagine black-haired Tegoshi singing Chankapaana. It feels so out of place. In Neko Chuudoku, too. His white costume was perfect with the hair, right? I think he looks a less feline now, considering THIS RANKING had put him on top and THIS RANKING made him a glorious one. It's not that I care so much about the ranking... but oh I'm a Tego fan so I do. Somehow.
I once gm-ed my thoughts about his new hair. I said that, to be honest, I like the blonde Tegoshi more. His bright hair highlighted his strong character in more ways than one. And his 'blonde appeal' contributed to NEWS' overall appeal which was cool and classy--and I really, really loved it.
Nevertheless Tegoshi's new hairstyle is more of a happy news than sad. I'm more amused than bitter. And, I know many people who were downright thankful for Tegoshi's black hair homecoming. They said they've been waiting for this day to come, that now they can gladly go back to the fandom again. Whoa, his hairstyle was their turning point??? Seriously? I never thought Tegoshi's hair could be such an issue! I'd like to discuss that issue by the way. :p
Lastly, because I love my UNCONVENTIONAL ichiban I'll always love his hairstyles--and he himself.
On KARA's activities
I'm happy that KARA's releasing new materials, don't get me wrong. I just think it's VERY UNHEALTHY that they've been doing lots of activities, releasing too many things... This is when quality over quality is rejected. I feel like the quality of KARA's songs have declined to a degree.
Although I understand why they had to release a "Best of" album. Nicole's leaving KARA early next year, so before she leaves, might as well have a farewell gift to all Kamilia: a compilation of KARA's best songs! To celebrate KARA5, and to celebrate the times we had with Nicole. As for the single French Kiss, it's a Christmas single so it's only seasonal (and not to mention it's KARA's tradition) to release this one. Yeah I understand this too.
Basically, I get the point of why KARA has to rush things, why they have to have continuous activities and all that. But I still feel uncomfortable. I still roll my eyes and think of what crap is happening on earth. I love KARA so I want things for them to be smooth, for as we can see they're not going uphill right now and maybe the management's way of making them important is by releasing lots of things. Okay, the group's laying its cards on the table. Probably a good thing? A way to comfort the fans? Maybe. But it doesn't work for me.
I prefer NEWS' style (I'm not being biased here okay. I love my fandomsssss ;_;). They first go through a lot of deliberations before releasing a new material, meaning quality over quantity. But I won't compare the two groups anymore!! I'll end it here. Besides, even if I 'hate' what KARA's doing right now, sooner or later I'll appreciate the deed.
